Set up the Instagram persistent menu
Add items that start a flow or open a website to the three-line menu in your Instagram chat.
The persistent menu is the menu that opens when a user taps the three-line icon (≡) on the right side of an Instagram chat. It works just like the persistent menu on Facebook. Earlier tutorials showed how to create and activate an Instagram flow. This one shows how to set up the persistent menu.
Open the Instagram settings
In the panel, go to Settings (Тохиргоо) → Channels (Сувгууд) → Instagram.
Choose whether users can type
At the top is the Allow typing (Гарнаас бичихийг зөвшөөрөх) option. When it is on, users can type messages directly. When it is off, the message box disappears and users must tap Эхлэх (Get Started) to start a conversation.
It is your choice, but in most cases we recommend keeping it on.
Add a website item
Click Add new again and add another item, for example “Вэбсайт үзэх” (View website) with a computer emoji.
This item can also start another flow, such as a “Холбоо барих” (Contact us) flow. Or choose Open website (Вэбсайт нээх) and enter any link, such as a YouTube channel or a website.
Add your link
As an example, add Smartbot's YouTube channel. In the top right corner of the panel, next to your profile, click the question mark (?) icon and choose YouTube channel (YouTube суваг). You can also watch Smartbot's tutorial videos there.
Copy the link and paste it into the field under Open website. Rename the label to “YouTube хичээл” (YouTube lessons) and click Save.
Check it on Instagram
Open a chat with your business account on Instagram and tap the three-line icon (≡) in the top right corner. The items you added appear in the menu.
Tapping “Үндсэн цэс” runs the main menu flow, and tapping “YouTube хичээл” opens the YouTube channel.
You do this in the Chatbot panel.login.smartbot.mn
